What happens when you come in

Here's how a visit usually goes. We give you as much time and guidance as you need, at every step.

  1. About 40 minutes

    Your eye examination

We start by talking about how you feel about your eyesight. Then one of our ophthalmic opticians tests your vision and checks your eye health, including an OCT scan, telling you what they're doing and what they find as they go.

  2. As long as you like

    Your styling consultation

With a coffee from the bar, one of our eyewear stylists talks through lenses for the way you live, then helps you try frames until something feels like you. It's included with your eye examination.

  3. Afterwards

    We stay on call

If something changes, or something gets in your eye, ring us. Patients on our monthly eye care plan have their eye examinations and emergency appointments covered.

What our patients say

“I visited Standish Styling Opticians as I go for regular eye tests, and I saw that it was new to the area. I had an excellent experience, very chilled and relaxed (and v high tech!). I didn't need glasses but I couldn't resist a pair of Dita sunnies. Thanks to Liza who helped me to make a decision. I got good advice but without any pressure, I was able to take as much time as I needed.”

Rich B, Customer review

“Thorough modern eye test, everything explained concisely and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic range of spectacles with a choice of quality lenses to suit my individual needs. Liza and Jackie are very welcoming. Brilliant experience.”

An independent practice in the village

We opened in Standish to sit alongside the boutiques, patisseries, florists and cafés that make the village worth a visit, rather than a place on the way into town.

We're independent, with sister practices at Barnes Hazel Opticians, Hepworth and Hall Opticians and Alan Bowen Optometrists, so there's a wider team behind us when you need one.

The frames on our walls

From the big fashion houses to small makers you won't find on the high street. Tom Davies frames can even be made to order in your size and colours. If you're after one brand in particular, ring ahead and we'll tell you what's in.

“The range of special frames by high end designers was just amazing! I really loved the Woow and the “Prue” brands. I was shown so many frames, I was spoilt for choice!”

Helen A, Customer review

“Impressive range of high quality glasses, not like most places where the majority are “shelf-fillers” that you'd never actually want to choose. My prescription had significantly changed this time so the ongoing care and reviews with my new lenses was very re-assuring as it took me a while to adjust.”
